Welcome

A chalet on the hill, ten minutes from Little England

Scenic Hills climbs five levels up the hillside on Lady McCallum's Road — a ground floor with four levels above it — built to make the most of the position. The top two levels open onto balconies framing Single Tree Mountain, and on a clear day you can pick out the Shanthipura viewpoint across the valley.

The upper floors are finished in warm timber-effect panelling under the steep chalet roof, with glass doors opening onto the balconies; the restaurant is on the second floor, and bright double rooms fill the levels below. There's direct access from the main road and a car park with room for a bus, so it works as well for a tour group as for a couple or a family. In the evening the mist rolls in over the tea slopes, and you can watch it come from the balcony.

Views & dining

Single Tree Mountain, from the top floors

The house steps up the hillside, and the top two levels open onto balconies facing the mountain. Evenings bring the mist rolling in over the tea slopes; mornings are clear, cold and bright.

On the second floor, the restaurant with its long wooden tables serves breakfast — order it the night before — and meals for house guests through the day, with room for a whole group to eat together. Nuwara Eliya's own restaurants, pubs and bakeries are a ten-minute drive away, and we're happy to book a tuk-tuk.
